My youngest loves to do crafts and be creative. But I find crafts to be quite pricey. I am not set up with a craft room and I do not claim to be “crafty”, but I do enjoy playing around and getting creative. So I headed to the dollar store to pick up some items to make a Pot of Gold for St Patrick’s day. Little One is always wanting to play with my jewelry boxes so this would be a trinket box for her. Total cost of this project was $3 and we had a lot of fun making it.
This was easy for my 5 year old to do with a little assistance from me. I cut the felt to fit the wooden box. She glued it on. We then glue don the green buttons (various sizes and shapes) to the lid. As well I cut some green hearts from the scraps fr her to glue on.
Because there was so much glue I placed a pencil in the box while it dried. I was worried it would glue shut. It dried pretty fast!
I then cut a gold (yellow) piece of felt and we glued in in the inside. This gave the illusion our pot was full of gold 🙂 Little one found some costume jewelry and placed it inside.
The end result is a fun, easy to assemble trinket box for Little one’s things. She loves it! I think it is perfect for St Patrick’s Day!
This is cute. The Little one did a great job. The dollars shop is great for all occasions.

I've seen those little trinket boxes at the dollar store. There are so many craft ideas for them. I never thought of buttons. Cute.
