Fall is sneaking up on us. Before you know it we will all have so many apples we will be lost. What do you do with all your apples? I always end up running out of recipes to make with all the apples we have. This one is great for so many reasons! You can make it when you want and save for later. Enjoy your apples all winter long and longer if needed. This recipe is especially good since you can make it in the slow cooker and it takes up very little kitchen space.
Crock Pot Apple Butter
(Makes 4 pints)
Ingredients:
5 1⁄2 pounds granny smith apples, finely chopped
3 1⁄2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Place apples in a 3-qt. slow cooker. Combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt; pour over apples and mix well. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.
2. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook for 9-11 hours or until thickened and dark brown, stirring occasionally (stir more frequently as it thickens to prevent sticking).
3. Uncover and cook on low 1 hour longer. If desired, stir with a wire whisk until smooth. Spoon into freezer containers, leaving 1/2-in. head-space. Cover and refrigerate or freeze.
Serve on biscuits, toast, muffins or pork.

I haven't had apple butter for so long, we used to get ours from a pig farmer plus he had his own apple orchard too, and his apple butter was so good, not only did we put it on toast but used it for cooking too, I'm craving some apple butter now, mmmmmm
I have never tried this before, thanks for the recipe. I do have a crock pot (don't we all) lol and I will pick up some apples this week
This sounds yummy and easy enough for me to try!
I have an apple tree and am always looking for apple recipes, will try this. Thank you.
