Where did the summer go?
My son made an interesting comment yesterday. He said “are all the seasons the same length?” He then continued saying “It seems in Canada that winter last for so long and summer goes by so quickly” This from a boy who loves his school but is really in no hurry to go back 🙂 But it is so true. It feels like the winter drags on and summer flies by.
Where has the summer went? We have done some fun stuff, I guess. We went to the beach, roasted wieners on an open fire, had smores and the usual summer fun. We have had pool visits, ice cream afternoons and some very exhausting days at the mall. We had a couple fun day trips too. As well as a few visits to the emergency room, thanks to allergies.
Luckily it is not over yet, I have booked a room in Niagara Falls and we are planning a trip there with the kids. Maybe a visit to Marineland or African Lion Safari is in the future as well. So much to do so little time.
A few months ago I had such excitement and so many plans for the summer. But it has really went by fast. Now every time I go out I see back to school sales.I am not ready for the kids to go back. Yes , hard to believe. Considering they were fighting from day one of summer vacation. But we have all found our groove. Some days are lazier than others lol It has been nice having the kids home for little one to hang out with. I am going to have to find her a playgroup when they start back. She is surely going to be bored and maybe lonely with them back to school.
I can not believe there are actually thoughts of year round schooling circling around Canada. I love this time with my kids. The no rushing, no scheduling days, no juggling parental duties and sport teams. For me summer vacation is nostalgic. I love to relive my childhood memories with my kids by visiting attractions my parents took me to as a kid. With less than a month to go before school starts, I plan on making the most of it. Maybe some fishing down at the river, a concert in the park and definitely a trip to the drive in. All this while keeping my eye on the back to school sales I do not want to miss out on. I would love to hear if you find a really good one. I have some back to school posts coming up with giveaways. That surely will help out with the back to school stress. But for now I will enjoy the rest of the summer

I know right? We are going to go on a mini – vacay, go to the cottage and try to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible!I can't believe how fast it has gone either!!!
It's gone way too fast and the days are getting shorter too. 🙁 We bought most of our school supplies by crossing the border. Not long ago, at WalMart they had ruled, loose-leaf paper (200) on sale for a quarter! Yes, a quarter. This should last her for several years. lol. So keep an eye out on WalMart for super cheap lined paper or on any other school supplies. We're just going to enjoy summer one day a time until it starts up again. Just today, my daughter got her school schedule. Yep, back to school is right around the corner.
