College Cuisine – Easy Omelet Recipe

Compared to most foods eggs are fairly inexpensive and full of protein and nutritious. This makes them perfect for college students. They have many uses and it is difficult to mess them up.  My daughter has been creating omelets for a long time. She adds whatever we have in the fridge at the time and they always turn out tasty.
Below is a basic Omelet recipe you can add anything you want to. You can change up the cheese flavour as well.

Prep time 5 minutes. Cook time 5 minutes

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • Salt and ground white pepper, to taste
  • cheese grated (any flavour)
  • filling (meat, vegetables etc)

Preparation:

    1. Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl and beat them .

    1. Heat a heavy-bottomed nonstick sauté pan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and let it melt.

    1. Add the milk to the eggs and season to taste with salt and white pepper. Whisk the mixer for a good 5 minutes allowing air into the mix

    1. Pour in the eggs into your hot pan. Don’t stir! Eggs should cook for up to a minute or until the bottom starts to set.

    1. With a heat-resistant rubber spatula, gently push one edge of the egg into the center of the pan, while tilting the pan to allow the still liquid egg to flow in underneath. Repeat with the other edges, until there’s no liquid left.

    1. You should have your filling prepared ahead of time to add to the omelet. chop, grate etc

    1. Add ham, bacon, mushrooms, peppers etc. Anything you would like to have with your eggs can be added to your omelet

    1. Add cheese then gently flip the egg over to fold. Cook for another few seconds, or until there is no uncooked egg left.

  1. With your spatula, lift one edge of the egg and fold it across and over, so that the edges line up. Cook for a few seconds longer
