See movies for free with your @SCENECard &

Ever since I can remember going to the movies as a family has been our favourite monthly tradition. We use to go more often, but as a large family, finding family time hard to come by. My teens sometimes go alone with their friends and hubs and I lately have been trying to have date nights. But for the most part, going as a family is best. I love watching the big screen with my kids. Seeing their faces as they watch the latest animated blockbuster or 3D spectacular. It is really priceless. Listening to them giggle at a joke we were sure they would not get or jump because the villain scared them are moments I will remember forever.

A few years back I signed up for a SCENE card. We had been at the theatre and saw an ad for it in the movie magazine. “Earn free movies” caught my attention instantly. Signing up was easy and the card arrived quick. So from then on I showed my card every time we went to the movies and was rewarded  points that I  could trade in fro rewards like free movies. Just by having the card we save 10% at the concession stand. Taking my four kids to the movies made getting free movie quick as well. This allowed us to get out and see some of the new releases a bit faster than we normally would. And days my teens wanted to see a show with friends and I was low on cash, I would just get them the free movie I had saved on my card. We still use our card often, just not as often as I would like.

A couple months ago hubs came home with his new Scotiabank debit card. I was happy to see it was a Scotiabank SCENE card. Now we can get free movies even faster. He earns points just for making his everyday purchases anywhere he shops. As you can imagine, this makes my kids very happy.  Movies are not the only thing points get you. Rewards include, movies, food from the concession stands, music and restaurant gift cards.

In addition to the debit and reward card, Scotiabank has a SCENE Visa card that gets you points and rewards even quicker. If you are a movie lover and looking for a Visa,  check out the Scotiabank SCENE card. For a limited time you get 4000 bonus points with your first purchase. That is enough to see 4 free movies. Until Sept 10/12 you get 4,000 pts  for the SCENE ScotiaCard.

With all these points and some much needed family time I figured it was time to take the family to see a show. All summer my older kids have been asking to go see the new Batman (Dark Knight Rises). The other night we finally got a chance to do so. We walked up to the cashier at the theatre and handed her our SCENE card. I told her I wanted to use my points to get us in for free. She asked if I wanted to use my other points for popcorn and pop at the concession. Of course I did 🙂 She printed me off a receipt and we headed inside. Redeeming the rewards was fast, and easy. The movie was great and the food was yummy! The kids had a blast and hubs and I were happy we saved big time. we are now planning on seeing another movie in a few weeks. Most likely an animated feature so our youngest can come with us. I will make sure I check our SCENE point balance online first to see if we have enough to get some of the kids in for free.
