Kale chips Recipe

Are you like me, always looking for “healthier” snacks for your kids?  I’m always on the lookout, and usually willing to try something new.  After all, that is the mantra of my blog (Addicted to Recipes) – to try new recipes!  Have you tried Kale Chips before?  I have been eyeing recipes for Kale Chips for months.  I’ve never really had kale before, so I never really knew what to expect.  But I keep seeing articles in magazines and recipes shared for kale chips and all this talk about how great they are.  So I had to give them a try.  From all that I’ve seen, it appears that the basic recipe for kale chips looks like this:

Kale Chips | Addicted to Recipes

Kale Chips

1 bunch of kale, washed, dried, stems removed and cut into bit-sized pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

Kosher salt

Take your kale and toss it with olive oil.  Mix well, coating as much of the kale as possible.  Lay the coated kale onto a cookie sheet, spread evenly on the sheet.  Sprinkle with salt.

Bake at 400F for 10-13 minutes.  Do not overbake as will cause the kale to be bitter.

VERDICT:

My husband and I were a little skeptical, but we gave the chips a try.  He kept going back to the chips to grab more…I take that as a good sign 🙂  Our 5 year old kept eating and eating them, he thought they were delicious.  Our toddler, not so much.  We gave him a chip, he put it in his mouth and promptly spit it out.  It was kind of funny.  I find them somewhat addicing.  Certainly something that I will try again, perhaps with some different seasoning.  I have some Epicure Chili Sea Salt that is calling to me as a kale chip topping, and I did have some readers suggest Parmesan cheese as a topping too.  How do you like your kale chips?

I need to give these one more try. Based on how awesome everyone says they are, I must have screwed something up when I made them.

I've never made Kale Chips, as a matter of fact I don't think I've actually eaten Kale. Anything that green has to be good for you. Hmmm…maybe I will try them. I love snacking I just need to snack on the right things and these seem healthy. Thanks for the recipe 🙂

  3. Yes, all the Epicure Sea Salts would amazing but I agree the Chili Garlic Sea Salt does sound relish!

I don't even know where to buy Kale in my area. It looks a lot like spinach and spinach is well….. I do want my family to eat healthier though. I will try them and report back.
    Thanks for the recipe.

I have never tried kale and not sure I even know where to buy iy. I will have to look for it in the produce isle

  8. It has been too long since I have been to your blog. It looks good 😀 I LOVE kale! It doesn't taste like spinach to those who have asked. I usually blend it in my smoothies. I've also had it cooked in a meal. For a less bitter taste, flowering kale is great to start with. We tried Kale greens after this and now that's all we buy. I haven't tried Kale chips yet though. This sounds super yum. Thanks for the information. 😀

Oh, and Kale is super easy to find. It is in the produce aisle around where you'd find the fresh romaine lettuce, and anaise (not that I know what this stuff is good for lol). I do know that it is hard to find in Superstore as they don't always have it. But Sobey's always has Kale 😀
