We spend a lot of time outside. We have over an acres and love the outdoors. Many of our nights are spent outside by the fire pit. The kids love to use the fire to cook all kinds of yummy snacks. When Coleman sent us the Popcorn maker they could not wait to try it out. Assembly was pretty easy and quick. I would have liked the handle a little bit bigger as we have a big fire pit but for smaller pits it would have been perfect.
I followed the popping instructions on the side of the box. Added 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels and oil to the popcorn makers. Closed the lid and let hubs take over.

It took a bit to get the right shake to the popcorn maker and know just where to set it in the fire pit. Second try, our son took over and it was perfect.
We poured the popped popcorn into the bowl and then melted some butter to add. The kids loved listening to it sizzle and pop while cooking on the fire. The popcorn tasted great!
Making this popcorn on the fire was so much fun! We all had a great time and made a few bowls full ( there were five of us )
Hubs and the kids all said that it was really cool and they had fun making it on the fire. We gave our son the option to go in and make some with the popper. He said he preferred this way. Turns out our neighbour has the same Coleman popcorn maker and has had it for years.

I have 10 Children, and we all Love popcorn over here. Never thought of doing this or until now heard of this, What a great way to spend time with the family doing something so fun and easy to do! Thank you for sharing =)
How fun! I didn't know that Coleman made those! We're pretty addicted to popcorn in the evenings ever since I discovered using paper bags in the microwave to pop it in!

The instructions says “no need for oil”. Check your instruction post. It says the same on their website. So, do you NEED oil or does it work without oil? Please reply. Thanks.
I did not use oil
That contradicts what the text of the blog stated: “…Added 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels and oil to the popcorn makers….” I actually came to this page to look for recommendations on this specific topic. Oil or no oil.
Guess we’ll experiment with using a small amount of the coconut popping oil we normally use in our popcorn machine.
