During the summer we do a lot of family travel. Much of it is day trips or destinations we can drive to. we drive a lot. Maybe more than the average family, but we love it. It gives us time to talk, enjoy our surrounding sand really get an idea for the area we visit. One place we have wanted to visit for a long time is Massachusetts. I think it is the movies we watch that first created this desire. But the more I read about it, the more I want to visit.
I am discovery so many great aspects of Massachusetts that I had no idea existed. Such as their festivals. There is a festival for almost every theme you can think of. A little something for all.
Make it a family Road trip to Boston! Plan your trip through the arts festivals taking place all across Boston. There are many
incredible events taking place from the Williamstown Theatre Festival to Shakespeare on the Common to Film Festivals and more. Expand your horizons, and yours loved ones. I get excited anytime I can add a bit of something new to my children’s lives.
For example the Outside the Box Festival looks like a great 9 days of free music and performing arts. There are music performers, culinary, dance and more. Never before have I seen so many unique performers in one place. The Festival itself is July 13-21st so it is over for this year. But there is always next year to check it out.
Summer Festivals
Cambridge Arts Festival
Prometheus Dance Anniversary Concert
Outside The Box Festival
Roxbury International Film Festival
Salem Jazz and Soul Festival
Lowell Folk Festival
Salem Arts Festival

New Bedford Folk Festival
I have always wanted to go up on an air balloon. At the Balloon fest in Greenfield you may just have that chance.
Summer is not the only time to visit Massachusetts. Winter is great as well (as is any time)
There is something magical about winter time. The lights, the festivities and the excited. If you prefer winter travel, it is now the time to get more information and plan a trip. Why not discover something new?
I will be sharing some more posts about Massachusetts with you in the next couple of weeks. I hope you too will discover something new about the area and maybe plan a trip for your family.

I've only been to Boston and I've loved visiting there. Such a beautiful city with such heart. I would love to explore more of the State and see what it has to offer. Love the idea of attending some of the summer festivals – especially the one featuring Shakespeare 🙂

I've been to Boston several times and loved it there although I never went to any festivals. That hot air balloon festival looks interesting and hopefully can be part of my itinerary when we are able to visit again.

We went to Mass. once a long time ago for a wedding, but we didn't get to see much of it. I can not wait to go back again someday. I never knew they had so many festivals.
What a fun filled festival. I'm sure family who go have a great time
I just got back from a family trip to Boston on Monday! It was our first visit there, and we really loved taking the ferry "cruise" in the bay. Our favorite dinner for sure was when we stopped at Cheers. But my favorite place by far was Gloucester, about an hour outside of Boston. We hiked, we played in the ocean, and we went candlepin bowling. Such a beautiful place!
Wow, there are so many amazing things to do in Mass.! I haven't been there, but I would love to visit some day!
And I only ever thought of Boston when considering spots to take my son on vacation. This has been a very useful post, thanks!
