So much fun to have in @BlueMtnVillage While visiting @BlueMtnResort #NaturalHigh #SummeratBlue

Recently I told you a little bit about our recent visit to Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood Ontario. This area is well known for its winter activities, skiing and other cold weather activities . But it is more than that. Blue Mountain, Ontario’s largest mountain village resort, is nestled on the shores of Georgian Bay and spans across the beautiful Niagara Escarpment. Blue Mountain has evolved into a true four-season destination, and continually ranks among the top family-friendly resorts in Canada.

Visiting in August I was curious to see what we had in store. Summer in a ski resort? What do they have to do? Especially for a family, well lots!

In the summer along with the great restaurants and unique shops in the village, there are lots of family friendly activities. I visited with my teens and my 4 year old. We were busy and entertained the entire time.

  • Open-Air Gondola
  • Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster
  • Monterra Golf & Tennis
  • Plunge!  Aquatic Centre
  • Private Beach
  • Mountain Biking
  • Hiking
  • Cascade Putting Course
  • Timber Challenge High Ropes
  • Woodlot Low Ropes
  • Mountaintop Segway Tours

We ate at Fire Hall Pizza Co the first night we were there. The decor within the restaurant was a lot of fun. everything was like you would find in a Fire Hall. Hoses hanging from the ceiling, staff wearing Fire House crests and other items throughout. The atmosphere was very cheerful and family friendly. I suggest you make reservations if you go during dinner as it gets busy. I ordered pasta, my son ordered steak and my other son ordered pizza. My youngest ordered off of the children’s menu. The food was great!

The shrimp that came with my pasta was really big.

We then walked around the village up until it was dark. The area was fun and family friendly. Children of all ages were still awake and hanging out with their families. Many stores and attractions were open until 10 pm and some after. There was something for everyone. We had Poutine and Beaver Tails as well as ice cream that we added so many yummy toppings to. There was pottery, candy stores and so many clothing stores. My teens loved the clothing stores full of their favourite brands.

When we were not eating we were enjoying each others company around the lake in the middle of the village. We strolled through the streets and played mini golf until after dark. There was a movie in the village we had planned on watching but we lost track of time.  It looked like a lot of fun, chairs set up and a big screen played The Croods.

Our favourite thing to do was the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. we went on it 4 times. I had my youngest with me and the boys went a lone. You twist and turn and control your own speed. It was very exciting. we also enjoyed the Gondola that took us up to the top of the mountain and showed off a beautiful view. We were not the only ones, bikers who enjoyed coming down on the rugged trails also took the Gondola up and their bikes got a lift as well.

In the village there is Horse and carriage rides available. The price was pretty reasonable and the stroll through the village looked like it would be fun. We did not do it ourselves but the kids enjoyed watching others go by.

What is the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster?

  • Guests ride to the top of the Glades area and descend to the bottom of Grand Central Lodge
  • Elevated cart track 1 – 6 metres (40 – 236 in.) off the ground
  • Riders can sit one or two people per cart and control their own speed
  • Carts slide over bumps, twist through corkscrews and zigzag through the trees of the glades
  • Mountain Coaster can run in most weather conditions — even in winter!

rrcollageWe had a fun filled three days and two nights. I am looking forward to checking out Blue Mountain Resort and Blue Mountain Village again . Maybe we will be able to experience it in another season. I was thrilled that there was something for every age.

See our Plunge Aquatic, Cascade Putting Course and Crock A Doodle pics below.

Crock-A-Doodle needs 24 hours to have your pottery ready for home.  We left before ours was done so they shipped it. It arrived a few days later. DD loves it!

We have had a busy fun filled summer. Checking out all that Ontario has to offer a family like mine has been amazing! We can not wait to see where we go next. Watch for our cave and zip line adventure next.

Have you been to Blue Mountain Resort? What was your favourite thing to do?
