MommiesFirst Box Expectant Mommies Box Review

There are quite a few subscription beauty boxes on the market today, but now there is also a special innovative mommies’ subscription box available for both expectant moms and new moms with babes in arms.  MommiesFirst Inc. is a wonderful Canadian company that creates personalized monthly care packages for moms based on their stage of pregnancy, or their child’s stage of development.  They ship to both Canada and the USA, and stress that their goal is to help new moms discover the best products for them and their babies.  Their products are chosen carefully by a MommiesFirst Council composed of moms, dads, and baby experts from all over the world, who find, test, and review the tremendous amount of mom and baby products available on the market.  Each care package consists of 4 to 5 recommended products, and are selected especially for you, based on a simple survey that you fill out.

Since I’m expecting my newest little one soon, I happily accepted an “Expectant Mommies” care package from MommiesFirst to review.  My package contained 5 well thought out products for someone in their third trimester.  My box also included a cute set of product info cards or “MommiesFirst Notes” attached together with a baby diaper safety pin.  There were also some exclusive coupons included if I decided to reorder some of the products in the box.

To start off with, my box contained the latest Parents Canada magazine issue, and also a Parents Canada Expecting brochure.  I felt that these would be very helpful to a new expecting mom to have, since they both had so much useful information in them with topics such as “Managing Back Pain”, What to Pack for the Hospital”, “Exercising Safely”, and “Eating Healthy”, etc.  A Parents Canada magazine issue newsstand price is $4.95.

Next, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a generous 125 ml tube of Shea Butter Market Foot Cream.  This cream is composed of moisturizing organic shea butter, along with some stimulating, and anti-inflammatory Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Peppermint oils.  This foot cream was like a godsend to me, since my feet are becoming more swollen and achy as the pregnancy progresses.  I immediately felt relief in both my feet and ankles after I massaged the cream into my feet, and I was actually soothed by its strong astringent scent.  Ahhhh, that’s better!   The Shea Butter Market Foot Cream retails for $12.99.

Thera Wise Ac+

I also received two separate Thera Wise products from Derma Wise Skin Care.  Derma Wise Skin Care Ltd. is based out of Vancouver and specializes in producing bio-active, all natural plant therapy ointments for a number of skin concerns.  I received HmR, a 28 g tube of hemorrhoidal ointment, which is pretty self explanatory, but of great use to a lot of expectant mothers and new mothers who have just given birth.  Also, I received Ac+, a 28 g tube of acne ointment, which I was happy to see and use, since I have been breaking out with acne quite a bit lately, and so this will be a welcome addition to my daily skin care regime.  Both tubes retail for $15.99 each.

The next product in the box was a 60 ml jar of Nurture Nature Face Cream from Sigrid Natural Skin Care.  This face cream is a simple fusion of almond oil, beeswax, and organic shea butter, that is perfectly safe to use during pregnancy.  Although it is supposed to be unscented, I could still detect a slight almond oil scent to the cream, which I was not bothered by.  To be honest, I will probably not use this cream on my face, since I have a pretty strict skin regime which I follow for my highly sensitive skin,  however, I did try out this cream on my hands, and was pleased with the soft skin results which I achieved.  A jar of Nurture Nature Face Cream retails for $22.00.

Last but not least, I also received a sample Pariday TendHer Pillow and Pillowcase.  This product is actually to be used while breastfeeding, so I obviously have not been able to try it yet, but it definitely looks like it will be useful.  Each pillow consists of a vegetarian food based gel encased in a BPA and phthalate free plastic film.  It can either be cooled in the fridge or freezer for 30 minutes, or warmed in warm water for five minutes, before being placed in its pillowcase and then inserted into your bra for instant relief.  I know from past experience in breastfeeding that when your milk first comes in shortly after giving birth, you definitely want something cool to place against your breasts.  This product is also supposed to help with other causes of breastfeeding pain including sore nipples, plugged ducts, mastitis, cracked nipples, and engorgement.  A pair of Pariday TendHer Pillows and Pillowcases retail at $24.99 and  lasts for approximately 4 weeks.

MommiesFirst Box Contents

So overall, I was extremely ecstatic with my MommiesFirst care package.  I had received some very innovative and useful expectant mommy products with a total retail value of approximately $84.00, which is of amazing value considering that one MommiesFirst gift box costs only $30 with free delivery in Canada.  They also have different subscription packages available which lower the monthly cost even further, such as $150 for 6 months (1 month free), and $300 for 12 months (2 months free).  They carry both “Expectant Mommies”  and ” New Mommies” care packages which contain products for both mom and baby each month;  tailored for the baby’s age up to 12 months.  Also, they will even create special “Shower” boxes that contain even more fun products than the standard monthly care package, and these “Shower” boxes may be purchased separately for $65 each, or added to a MommiesFirst subscription package.  I think that any new mommy out there would definitely love to receive one of these well thought out MommiesFirst care packages.

Do you know a new mom who could use this?

I personally would prefer to choose my own things rather than have someone else choose them for me. I like the things I know and love for me and my baby first and foremost.
