VeggieTales Bob and Larry’s ABC’s App

My five year old loves her iPad. At first I was leery about allowing her to play on it. But soon realized technology is a way of life for today’s youth. Children know gadgets better than any generation before them. So I started discovering apps for her that were educational. I looked for educational and she wanted fun. It was great to discover so many that were both. And they were very inexpensive to purchase. Easy too! If you have never purchased an app before for the iPad it is really easy to do. They literally walk you through it.

Recently I downloaded VeggieTales Bob and Larry’s ABC’s App for her to try out.  It’s important to know our ABCs – luckily we have Bob and Larry to help us learn everything from A to Z! Our favorite VeggieTales characters guide us through the alphabet while Larry the Cucumber narrates the whole adventure. FEATURING animations, sounds and 3-D effects the app is a fully interactive and educational experience. Kids can tap on each letter to have them read aloud. Touching characters makes them jump, bob and float.

Kids and parents can read, create and share this story together to create a unique family bonding experience. In Create mode kids can change the letters to different fonts to reinforce sight and sound associations. Kids can type in their own words and sentences to help stimulate their imagination as they learn the alphabet. After, parents can share their family creations through email, Facebook and Twitter so friends and family all around the world can learn along with you.

Bob and Larry’s ABC’s is the first in the Veggiecational series to be published digitally by Storypanda. Collect all five Veggiecational books to learn Numbers, Shapes, Colors and Time. COMING SOON!

The app is very affordable at $2.99 and available at the iTunes store

App books are a great way to encourage young children to learn to read. The story is read out loud while the child can click through and discover for themselves.  My daughter really enjoyed this story and the chharacters. Being a young kindergarten student she is learning her A B C’s at school. This fun interactive app allows her to bring that knowledge home.  Since we drive  a lot taking our oldest to sports, this app keeps her entertained in the car as well. Easy to download, easy to use and affordable. A great app for families with young children.

If you are looking for a fun and educational app for your children you will want to check this one out. As your child gets to know the story they can change the option to “read myself” It is a great way to have them learn how to read and obtain independence.
