#PhilipsSonicare Getting that holiday sparkle with Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum

Growing up I never thought too much about dental care. I woke and brushed. Ate and brushed, Brushed before bed and any  other time my parents reminded me. I went to the dentist on routine visits and had “perfect teeth”. Fast forward to my adult years where suddenly I am the one paying the bill for the dentist and I am the mom. Suddenly I am paying closer attention.

A manual toothbrush alone does not do everything I need done. Often I would not have that clean feeling you should from brushing. You know, that just visited the dentist feeling. And who can afford to visit the dentist every 3 months without coverage? I am lucky if I get in once a year. So when I got the chance to out the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum I was thrilled to say the least.

Day one

I take it out of the box and have a look at it. Both my oldest son and husband ask if it is for them. My son tells me how he has always wanted one and my husband tells me all the good things he has heard of it. Both were not pleased to hear it was mine. All mine!

I never would have guessed a toothbrush would cause them to act like that lol

Day 2

So I wanted to give the toothbrush a try. It had been charging and I was excited to try it out. First attempt and I think I had the settings on too high. Since I am not use to using an electric tooth brush it was making my head vibrate. My hubs laughed at me and did the “did you not red the manual” look? So I read it over and decided the lower setting was good for me, a beginner. My mouth felt really clean and I enjoyed using it. I felt like I reached areas in my mouth I normally could not.

A week later

I have been using my Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum for just over a week now. I am really liking it. I can adjust the settings to where I want them as well. No longer a newb 🙂 Mouth feels clean and I am loving the features of it. No issues at all with my sensitive teeth.

The Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum is the newest Philips sonic toothbrush. It provides an exceptional clean, removing up to 7x more plaque in hard-to-reach areas and reduces gingivitis up to 2x better than a manual toothbrush.
Product features include:
NEW InterCare Brush Head provides exceptional interdental cleaning and gum care, with bristles that are designed to perform specific tasks:

  • Light green bristles reach between teeth to remove plaque
  • Dark green bristles gently and effectively remove plaque along the gum line
  • White bristles polish and clean tooth surface
  • Blue reminder bristles fade when a replacement is needed

Customized Brushing System includes a total of nine possible personalized brushing experiences:

3 Brushing Modes:

  • Clean – the ultimate in plaque removal
  • White – 2 minutes of whitening mode to remove surface stains and 30 seconds to brighten and polish front teeth
  • GumCare – combines 2 minutes of Clean mode plus 1 minute of gentle gum massage to improve gum health

3 Intensity Level Settings:

Low (for sensitive areas), medium, high. Pressure Sensor automatically alerts you when you’re brushing too hard; designed to be simple and intuitive

With just over one week of usage I feel my teeth are cleaner and they look brighter. Being a redhead I have sensitive teeth and always had a yellow tinge. Using this I have noticed my teeth are whiter. I am so happy. Now I need to get hubs one for Christmas because he keeps dropping hints. If you are a newbie like me, check out these tips to make the best out of your first try.

First Use Tips & Tricks
Before your first use, be sure to charge your toothbrush for 24 hours and read the instruction manual. Below is a quickstart guide to your first time brushing with the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum.
Philips Sonicare brushes are designed to work in your mouth without too much effort on your part.
1. Wet the bristles and apply a small amount of toothpaste.
2. Place the toothbrush bristles against the teeth at a slight angle towards the gum line.
3. Press the power on/off button to turn on the Sonicare.
4. Apply light pressure to maximize Sonicare’s effectiveness and let the Philips Sonicare toothbrush do the brushing for you. Do not scrub.
5. Gently move the brush head slowly across the teeth in a small back and forth motion so the longer
bristles reach between your teeth.
6. Continue this motion throughout your brushing cycle.

I can not wait until my next dentist visit to see if my dentist notices a difference. Thanks Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum!

I love that there are 3 intensity levels and 3 brushing modes. Very cool

  2. This sounds really great! Like Shannon already mentioned, I love that there are 3 intensity levels as well, because I can have sensitive teeth at times. Would make a great gift this time of year too!

  3. LOL!! Great review! I have never used an electric tooth brush before so I would have never known that there was multiple setting!! However, I am a HARD tooth brusher. I ruin toothbrushes in a two week period because I scrub so hard. I wonder if this would give me the same desired effects!

  4. Ooooh, I have toothbrush envy. 🙂 I bet you your dentist WILL notice. I've only heard great things about Sonicare. 🙂 How cool is it that it has intensity levels. 😀

  5. I bought a Sonicare system last year and I am in LOVE with it. I cannot believe what a difference it makes and how much longer I brush. My dentist recommended Sonicare to me – so glad that he did.

After some bad issues with my gums years ago, I switched over to an automatic toothbrush and I can never go back now! Your dentist will definitely notice! (mine does :))

  7. Now who are you going to share that extra head with? lol draw straws? I like that it came with two so both my husband and I can use the same device but have our own brush heads.

  8. Same here! Well, brushing teeth was a twice a day ritual growing up, but it has only been recently that I discovered how good oral care directly impacts overall health! So interesting!
