Family Financial Challenge with Gail Vaz-Oxlade #SavingMadeSimple

Nothing is more discouraging than spending money on products that don’t meet your needs. Now dependability does not have to depend on your budget. By using P&G brands like Ultra Dawn, Bounty Basic and Cascade ActionPacs you are getting trusted products you can rely on to get the job done well for less. Buy them using coupons and you are really getting your moneys worth!

As a mom on a budget I am always looking for ways to save money. I use coupons and avoid credit cards, I watch for sales and try to save where I can, when I can. Every week I watch the flyers and see what is on sale and where. I know all the tips and tricks for my local stores, which ones will honor last weeks prices, which will honor other store prices and which ones follow SCOP. If you do not know what SCOP is you are missing out. If an item scans higher than its shelf or ticket price, you get it free up to $10. My other favourite way to save is loyalty cards. Especially when it comes to my teens and their expensive tastes. Discounts and rewards help me save big time!

This month to kick my savings into high gear I am participating in a challenge. The family financial challenge with Gail Vaz-Oxlade using Gail’s rules from her Money Rules book. I will be using her tips to save money and share with you all on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. As will other P&G Moms who have opted in to the campaign. Follow the #SavingMadeSimple hashtag for money saving tips. You will see our progress and ways we save. Feel free to join in and share your tips as well.

Each week of the challenge will be broken down into themes and will be followed by tips, tricks and weekly challenges based on the following topics:

• Week 1 – Cash, Cash, Cash

• Week 2 – Food

• Week 3 – Family

• Week 4 – Clothes

You will see the progress and challenges on social medias. As well as a post at the end. I am excited to see how it goes and to share with all of you. I can not wait to hear about what you do to save as well.

This sounds like a really great challenge Kim! I am definitely going to be following along. I try to coupon to save money and we use rewards points as well, but I would love tips for being a cash only shopper. Good luck!

  2. Listen to my hubby 🙂 he keeps me on track! I cannot wait to join in this month.

  3. I love Gail!! I price match and buy only what we truly need. I also avoid processed, packaged items. It is amazing how much you can save.

  4. Gail's money tips are awesome. I will never forget hearing he talk about the cost of home ownership, I have never looked at finances the same again.

  5. My husband is such a great money manager that I let him organize all of our finances. We both know exactly what's happening financially but I let him be in control overall because he's a saver and I'm a spender. This sounds like fun! I'll be following along. I love Gail and watch all her shows…even the reruns I've seen tons of times.

I'm looking forward to following your challenge. BTW thanks for explaining SCOP. Until I read your post a while ago, I didn't realize that there are a number of stores that follow SCOP – I thought it was a promise followed by just one grocery store chain.
