Chili is one of those warm your tummy meals the entire family can enjoy. My family likes it full of ground beef and extra saucy. they do not like red beans or kidney beans at all. So it is pretty basic but oh so good!
Beefy Tomato Chili Recipe
What you need
- 2 lb of ground beef (lean)
- 1 onion diced
- 1 large can of stewed tomatoes
- 1 can of tomato soup
- 1/2 cup of beef stock
- 2 cans of beans in tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 cloves of garlic diced
- 1 tsp salt
In a large pot brown ground beef and drain. Add in onion, garlic, beef stock and chili powder and salt. Heat till boiling then reduce heat. Add in the remainder of the ingredients and cook on med/low for 40 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Simmer for as long as you like. I find the longer it cooks the thicker it gets. If you find it is too thick you can add 1/4 of water to the pot.
Serve with bread or toast. Add shredded cheese or sour cream to top.
This makes enough for my family of five with plenty of leftovers for the next day.
