Picture Books for Spring from Raincoast Books

Books are part of our day to day life here in my home. Having books in the house allows the kids to read and use their imagination. They let them break free from electronics and the TV for a while as well. Our youngest is 5 and in Kindergarten. She is learning new words every day and is so proud when she does. A part of her “homework” is a book she brings home nightly to read. But on top of that she likes to read other books. The more she reads, the more she learns. The best way to get children to love to read is to have a wide variety of books and magazines for them to choose from. Picture books are a fantastic way to help younger readers grow and gain an interest in reading.

I was sent a fun variety of Spring themed picture books for my daughter to check out from Raincoast Books. We are very pleased with the quality of the books. The print is a good size in most of them and the pictures are all very detailed and bright. Very appealing to the eyes.

At the Same Moment, Around the World

by Clotilde Perrin

Discover Benedict drinking hot chocolate in Paris, France; Mitko chasing the school bus in Sofia, Bulgaria; and Khanh having a little nap in Hanoi, Vietnam! Clotilde Perrin takes readers eastward from the Greenwich meridian, from day to night, with each page portraying one of (the original) 24 time zones. Strong back matter empowers readers to learn about the history of timekeeping and time zones, and to explore where each of the characters lives on the world map. A distinctive educational tool, this picture book’s warm, unique illustrations also make it a joy to read aloud and admire.

The above two are our faves so far. I think because we have been traveling and she is starting to understand the world is more than our backyard. The large fold out map from At the Same Moment, Around the World is a great way to get her talking about places to visit.

The print in Busy Bunny Days is a bit small to read. But the big bright pictures makes up for this. We spend most of our time talking about what is on each page.

Busy Bunny Days

Join the Bunny Family for a busy day in their home town, on a fun-filled farm adventure, and at the port for an exciting outing in this seek-and-find book where there is always something to discover. From the time they wake up until the time they go to sleep, there is so much to see and do. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for that pesky Benny Badger-he is always up to no good! With a fresh and adorable illustration style, and so many details on every page, this picture book begs to be read again and again.

We are very happy with these additions to our book collection. A great range of themes they are all fun and cheery!

You can check all of these books out for yourself at Kidsbooks.ca Indigo.ca and Amazon.ca or in a bookstore near you. Books make great gifts too if you are stumped on what to send your child for a classmates birthday party.
