Easy Recipes Kids Can Make for Mother’s Day

Kids want to do something for Mom for Mother’s Day, and the kitchen is a great place to do it. Here are three easy recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Easy Pancakes

Ingredients for 12 pancakes:

1/2 cup all purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 1/4 cup of milk

1 T vegetable or sunflower oil

pinch of salt

Method:

Whisk all of this together, even the night before. Then, pour it all through a funnel into a rinsed out ketchup squeeze bottle (or similar). In the morning, heat a frying pan with another T of oil in it. The frying pan is hot enough when a little water drooped on it ‘dances.’ Then, squeeze out enough batter to make a pancake the size desired. As soon as bubbles are seen on top, flip it over. It will not take more than a minute to do the other side.

Suggested servings:

Instead of boring maple syrup, sprinkle a little fine grain sugar on top, and serve with lemon wedges, or Mom’s favorite jam on the side.

Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

This is a fun little trick that requires no frying pan. Prepare grilled cheese sandwiches by putting cheese between slices of bread, and lightly buttering the outside of the sandwich. Now here’s the fun part. Turn the pop-up toaster on its side and put the sandwiches in. Press down the lever and –Ta-Dah! – Perfect grilled cheese with absolutely no mess to clean up! Serve with Mom’s favorite pickles.

Easy-Peasey Pork Chops

Take a good sized glass baking dish and line it with six pork chops. Grind some fresh pepper on top and salt to taste. Then, take a package of onion soup mix and pour it into a big measuring cup. Fill the measuring cup with 2 cups of boiling water from the kettle and stir. Pour the onion soup over the pork chops, cover it with tun foil and place in a 350 degree oven for one hour. The pork chops will come out fork tender and delicious!
