My family attended the new Walt Disney movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY screening and had a blast!
As I sit here thinking what to write I find myself laughing alone in my office just thinking about the movie!
It is very hard these days to find kid friendly movies that us adults can enjoy too and I can’t tell you how much I love when there is the most subtle hilarious adult humor in kids movies. The kind the kids are too young to even notice, but the kind we sure do and it leaves us in stitches! This movie was right on point and had myself and Steve laughing so hard the tears were streaming down our faces.
In Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Alexander’s day begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by falling flat on his face in front of his crush, and it continued on through a seemingly endless day of calamities. Though he receives little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him, the rest of his family all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
Steve Carell is one of my most favourite actors and was so perfectly suited for this movie. His humour and amazing character really blended well with Jennifer Garner.
I think almost all of us can completely relate to this movie, I mean there are some days where I stand in my place and think “this day cannot possibly get any worse”. We have all been there; we’ve had those days where if it can go wrong it certainly does! This movie really teaches not only the kids but us adults too great morals and life lessons that remind us what really matters in life. That even when we are having the worst possible day we could ever imagine that there is light at the end of that sometimes very dark tunnel. That things can and do get better, we just have to roll with the punches and take those not so great moments in life alongside those really good moments.
My daughters; Abby 12 and Hailee 9 really enjoyed the movie. They laughed and giggled and talked about the movie the whole 45 minutes we drove home. They also let me know that it was mandatory that we purchase the DVD once it is released because they want to have a sleepover party with their friends and watch it all over again – “so our friends can laugh of course mom”!
