Play in the Snow and travel to Lake Placid, Adirondacks USA #PerfectDayADK

If you can’t beat them, join them!

For me living in a cold and snowy area this has become my way of thinking. I can sit around and complain about the snow, or I can get up and go out and enjoy it! The winter months can be a lot of fun if you accept this way of thinking. They last long enough that there are so many great activities to get involved in like skiing, skating and sledding. Not to mention how pretty the snow is when it falls. There is no better time to snuggle up by a fire either!

Toboggan-Chute

For snow lovers there is a great place to vacation either on a romantic getaway or on a family vacation. Lake Placid, the location of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games  as well as 1932 has a long standing of winter activities and was America’s first winter resort.  Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New YorkThe Adirondack Park has over 2,000 miles of hiking trails; these trails comprise the largest trail system in the nation. Within the park are 3,000 lakes and ponds and more than 1,200 miles of rivers fed by an estimated 30,000 miles of brooks and streams. I am so glad to see this is within driving distance from me. Everything looks perfect for a winter family getaway.

What would your perfect winter getaway look like?

A visit to this quaint alpine village in the midst of the Adirondack Park wilderness in winter can include a dogsled ride, shopping on Main Street, drinks at the pub, a thrilling slide down the toboggan chute, and skating on Mirror Lake! lakeplacid.com

My perfect winter getaway would include days filled with snow ball fights, walks along the lake with the family followed by a dog sled ride through trails. Then watching the stars above me just before going in to warm up by the fire and reading a good book. Relaxing while enjoying the beautiful surroundings with the ones I love most. I would also be sure to grab lunch at a cozy pub one day while out shopping on main street after visiting the spa in the morning.  A girl can dream!

Lake Placid is a place I remember my aunt and uncle visiting and really enjoying the trip. They were skiers. I would consider it if there was some place super cozy to warm up afterwards.
