How do you eat your Weetabix #mybixmix

weetabix-box

I have great memories of my childhood that include Weetabix.

My mom use to eat it for breakfast all the time and eventually I did as well. At first I did not understand the appeal of this cereal, there was nothing fancy about it, nothing sugary or coloured, just cereal. After eating it myself I soon realized everything I needed was there and if I wanted to, I could always add whatever I was in the mood for.

We would enjoy it with warm milk or cold, with fruit or on its own. My favourite always was just to eat it on its own with milk straight out of the fridge. I enjoyed watching it as the texture changes as it soaks up all the liquid. Even now I find it amusing to have my cereal go from crispy to soft while I eat it. I normally have two in a bowl and find that to be quite filling. Packed with whole grains and high in fibre this is the perfect way to start my day and get my ‘feel good’ energy. Each two biscuit serving contains 2 grams of sugar and is only 130 calories.

As much as I love Weetabix on its own, many enjoy adding their favourite berry to the bowl. Others enjoy adding honey, yogurt, maple syrup, or other toppings fit for cereal.

Weetabix challenged me to eat a bowl for breakfast every day and share the different ways I was enjoying it. You can see my shares as well as other peoples on the #mybixmix hashtag

When eating yogurt why not break up a biscuit and add it to your bowl? The texture and flavour combination are quite nice! I like this for something different for breakfast but also as a snack if needed between meals.

I am trying to make an effort at changing my eating habits. One big change is to eat a filling, healthy breakfast each day. I am officially a week in and I am loving it! I am not starving mid morning and feel like I have energy.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all.

I am going to try a few more ways to enjoy my Weetabix. I think warm with honey sounds good. Watch my social media to see how it turns out.

This brought back great memories of when I was young. Like your mom, my mom used to eat Weetabix ALL the time. As kids we used to eat it by pouring boiling water on them, draining the water and adding milk and a little sugar. Haven't had this in years and now I am craving Weetabix!

Unfortunately, I can't eat Weetabix anymore due to my gluten allergy, but it is definitely one of those foods that miss. Tons of yogurt and berries was my favourite way to eat it! I loved making it soggy!!

  4. Unfortunately, cereal and granola are not common breakfast staples in the country where I grow up (Philippines) and the fact that I am lactose intolerant made me just wonder how these would taste. But when I moved here and there are so many alternatives to dairy, I enjoy eating cereal now and have granola in my non-dairy yogurt! I haven't tried this one and this looks very good.

I myself crumble 3 biscuits (rough crumble so you get a chunk n fine consistency), a teaspoon of sugar on crumbled biscuits, and just cover biscuits with cold milk??, i let it soak n get mushy, give it a stir to incorporate sugar, cereal and milk.
