Celebrate the Spring Harvest with GLAD

Hopefully by now everyone has the signs of Spring around them and the previous season is just a distant memory.  Birds singing, trees budding, grass growing and the warm blowing air letting us know summer is near. I love Spring as it is a time for new life and new beginnings. A time for family, recreation and inspiration. A time to get outdoors and enjoy the people around you and your surroundings. Farmers markets are one of my most favourite places to check out this time of year. Fresh local produce fills the isles allowing for recipes and picnics we have not enjoyed in months.

For us we cut off cable and spend most of the next few months in the yard. BBQs and bonfires are great ways to enjoy family time and get outdoors. When it comes to entertaining and eating outdoors I am not a fan of pests and an cautious of the sun. So we take extra steps to ensure there is lots of shade and we are not welcoming mosquitos.

GLAD has been a big help with celebrating the Spring Harvest.

Protect and Preserve your food with GLAD

GLAD Press’n Seal Wrap

Unlike traditional cling film and plastic wrap, Press ‘n Seal® wrap actually seals to surfaces like paper, plastic and wood. So you can create custom shaped bags to store and freeze food in individual portions. And it goes from the freezer or to the microwave with no problem.

GLAD Cling Wrap

Tight hugging Glad Cling Wrap helps keep your food fresh. And this plastic wrap is easy to handle and microwave‐safe, so you can defrost or reheat as you please. Glad Cling Wrap contains no plasticizers.

GLAD Sandwich Zipper bags Medium

Only Glad bags have the double-lock green seal. They have so many uses — in addition to being perfect for school lunches and picnics, you can use them to organize household items and to pack smaller items when you travel.

GLAD Freezer Zipper bags large

In addition to being perfect for snacks at work and school, you can use them to organize household items and to pack smaller items when you travel. The double-lock zipper seals inside and out to preserve freshness, yet it is still easy to open and close.

GLAD FreezerWare containers

If it’s worth keeping, it’s worth protecting. The new FreezerWare containers are BPA-free, crack-resistant and freezer friendly to protect your favorite leftovers in the freezer. The Small size comes in a pack of four 709 mL plastic food storage containers with interlocking lids that help keep frost out, and freshness in.

GLAD Lunch to go Containers

These all-in-one solutions make it easy to pack combos that you want to keep separated, like salad with dressing or soup with croutons. Glad To Go Lunch containers feature a large reusable plastic container, along with a dressing cup that snaps into the lid — perfect for holding condiments or toppings. So now you can portion out your meals at home, and prep them as you like at lunchtime.

Since I have been going to the local farmers market and small farm road stands, I have been buying items that are in season. I wash, cut and freeze them for later. My favourite score so far was a bunch of peppers grown in a greenhouse. I got an entire bag for $3. These are now sitting in my freezer and will be added to stir fries and other meals. I can not wait to get my hands on some local strawberries!

In the summer I go through a lot of Glad freezer bags. I like to pick and save a lot of strawberry for winter and you have to use good freezer bags for it.
