The Avengers – ‎Age of Ultron Screening

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Chris Evans as Captain America. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015.

Amy’s thoughts

If you are a fan of the Marvel movies, this one absolutely has to go to the top of the list. Seriously. Wow!
No spoilers, but this next part of the ongoing series brought our heroes back together for the battle of their super hero careers against the evil Ultron created by Tony Stark and voiced by none other than Blaine from a fave movie of mine, Pretty in Pink’s James Spader. He was fantastic incidentally.
A few new characters were introduced, the twins in particular, and others joined in from their independent franchises. It really was a coming together in order to save humanity.
Epic battle scenes, more CGI than previous movies, and the actual sequences and ‘moves’ themselves were really amped up. The best though, to me, was the writing. There were so many fantastic one-liners‎, we were laughing throughout. Joss Whedon really is the King of action-movies in my books, he has done it again with this one and you can see his style in every aspect of the film.
The plot of the overall series really comes to the forefront in this piece and a lot of revelations I definitely was not expecting take place and shed light on backstories. It even surprised my die-hard fan hubby. He also loved the movie, just in case you worried. 😉
I found the tone very reminiscent of Empire Strikes Back‎, and it grabs you from the opening seconds and doesn’t let go until the end of the credits rolls…and yes there is a cut scene, so trust me, stay. it’s worth it. Gasps and cheers filled the theater.
For die-hard Marvel fans the plot has obviously been modified as we all know that Ant Man created Ultron in the comics, and I am eagerly awaiting that movie too, but the modifications work well.
I am already counting down until the next movie…as I am sure you will be too after seeing it. I’ll be going again, I doubt it will be an issue to convince my hubby to come along ;).
A big thank you to Subway Canada for putting on this wonderful super hero filled fun screening. I know I was inspired to eat healthier just seeing my boyfriend Captain America (dare to dream) battling on-screen and realizing the shape he and the rest of the cast had to be in to do what they did :).

I saw this movie and didn't love it as much as the first Avengers! Still a good action film but I felt the screen play was lacking.
