Revenge of the Ginger beer

If you are a redhead like me you know all too well the bullying we go through over the years. It was only recently that media started putting beautiful and smart redheads in the spotlight. Before we were always the fool, the “nerd” or the punch line. Especially ginger men, the women have been a bit luckier. Then there was Kick a Ginger day, *sigh* this was a new low.

But like all negatives, the people who are targeted thrive eventually and find a strength that changes everything around them. This is why so many redheads have been using their voice to show support of one another and let the public know we are more than what the media had allowed bullies to target for years. If you follow me on social media you will see I have been sharing all kinds of gatherings from all around the world. Events where redheads can get together and share stories and show off their ginger locks. I share makeup geared towards us and now, I am sharing beer 🙂

When I was asked if I would like to try out Revenge of the Ginger, the newest release from Canadian craft brewer Double Trouble Brewing I was so excited! I am not a huge beer drinker but to see a fellow ginger take a negative and turn it into something so cool was amazing!

Double Trouble was co-founded by Nathan Dunsmore and Claude Lefebvre. Claude’s mug appeared on their winter brew, a vanilla-hinted porter and now it’s Nathan’s turn.As a ginger himself, he wanted to create a tongue-in-cheek brew that featured a delicious kick of ginger as well as poke fun at the insults thrown at gingers (Kick A Ginger Day…for instance!)
Available at the LCBO, the brew is a strong pale ale at 6.2% ABV.Revenge of the Ginger has a mellow amber hue and a creamy white head. This brew exhibits a great balance of malt with top notes of fresh ginger flavour. It pairs exceptionally well with highly spiced foods such as hot curries.

I really enjoyed my Revenge of the Ginger and am proud to see a fellow redhead using the ginger life for good. When friends came over to visit they all wanted to try out this beer. It was a fun one to share. The taste was really and nice and I found myself enjoying a few of them!

This brew joins Double Trouble’s existing lineup of Hops and Robbers IPA, Prison Break pilsner and Fire in the Rye pale ale. Their flagship brand, Hops and Robbers, is a golden IPA with an deliciously rich and complex character. Fruity aromas of lemon with hints of pineapple combine crisply with toasty caramel flavours and a firm malt backbone.

Prison Break pilsner boasts light, bread-like malt characteristics. It’s dry-hopped for a spicy, floral bouquet and brewed to be clean, crisp and refreshing.

Fire in the Rye pale ale is unfiltered for maximum flavour and combines the smouldering aroma of rye with floral notes achieved by using only Centennial hops.

Revenge of the Ginger retails at $3.00 per 473ml tallboy can. My local store did not have it but were all too happy to order it in for me when asked.

Find Double Trouble craft beers in Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

If you are a beer drinker, a redhead or someone looking to try out something new, this is for you! Be sure to come back and let me know what you thought! Cheers!

I'm not a beer drinker myself, but I do love sharing new beer products with my friends, so I will be sharing this beer with them!

As for the hate for redheads, I have always loved them! I always thought having red hair made you so much more special because it has so much more personality and spunk. I have never liked the idea of ''Kick A Ginger Day'' or the teasing against redheads. I've always stuck up for them!

    • RE: hate for redheads. One of my besties in high school had red hair and brilliant green eyes. She got all the attention 🙂 and we were jealous of her.

I'm not a red head but my brother was and we got teased something rotten because of that. I have no idea whether he got picked on for his hair though. He married a red head too so their boys are both red heads too.
