Planning your Dream trip to Iceland

As you may already know I love to travel! I travel alone and with my family, depending on dates, location and of course budget. There have been many great destinations I have had the opportunity to visit over the years, but there are still so many I would like to see.  Only a few actually make my  dream bucket list! One at the very top of the list is Iceland with their beautiful scenery and never ending ability for adventure. Iceland is a Nordic island country located between the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean. If you are looking for a great getaway maybe you too can add Iceland to your dream list. Its dramatic volcanic landscape of geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, glaciers and black-sand beaches make this stop truly unique and like no other. When it comes to discovering Iceland you can take a guided tour or drive yourself by getting a rental car. Here are the cheapest car rentals in Iceland for you to check out.

Here are five things I can not wait to do in Iceland when I get a chance to go.

See the wildlife

Iceland has a variety of domestic and wild animals including, sheep, cattle, chicken, goat, and the sheepdog. Wild mammals in Iceland include the Arctic Fox, mink, mice, rats, rabbits and reindeer. The occasional Polar bear may visit the island, traveling on icebergs from Greenland.

Cave Tour

The ice caves in Icelandic glaciers are a truly mesmerizing wonder of nature. Tour the caves with an Iceland travel guide to get up close and find out all about these beautiful gems.

Go fishing

Surrounded by water, fishing is an unforgettable experience. The mild climate allows for river and lake fishing. You can find wild fish  in the lakes including Atlantic salmon, brown trout and arctic char.

See the Blue Lagoon

Ever since a friend shared a picture of her trip to Iceland this has been on my list of places to see. The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. The spa is located in a lava field in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwestern Iceland.

Go Rafting

There is no doubt there is something for everyone in Iceland. A little romance, a lot of adventure and so many memories to have. Exciting rapids and mind-blowing scenery make this destination the place to be for white water rafting.

If you are not adventurous there is still plenty to see and do while visiting. No matter how you choose to spend your vacation there is one thing everyone can agree on, the scenery is beautiful, unique and will take your breath away . If you are lucky you may even see the Northern lights that many visit Iceland to witness for themselves. The best time to see these are between September and April in complete darkness. Since many things factor how well these beautiful attractions are spotted it is recommended you stay at least a week to make your odds greater.
