When I was a child I could not wait to open up a bank account. I was excited for my first job and had big plans for all of my money. It was exciting having dreams and not worrying about life and bills. Then life happened and reality hit big time. All of those vacations I had planned in my head were no longer reality. My parents were great about teaching me to save a portion of my money for a rainy day. But not so great about letting on about what EXACTLY a raining day was. So when it came time for me to be the parent, and teach my children, I did things a bit different.
We often talk about savings, and bills and the cost of living with our children. Post secondary education, savings and rainy days are included in these conversations. My three oldest are all fully aware of money but looking to learn more to be financially fit. You never know what the future will hold so being prepared is important.
