Is Your Asthma Under Control? Take the Test Today #30SecondAsthmaTest

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of a Canadian leading research based pharmaceutical company. All opinions are 100% mine.

Looking back at family photos from when I was a child, many have me in the hospital receiving treatment for my asthma. To hear my mom tell it, I spent most of my childhood there. Or at least the first few years. My mom was not a smoker and nobody else in my family had a history of it. So how I got it was a complete mystery to my parents. I had a lot of  breathing problems and being a baby, it was very scary for them.

Fast forward a few decades and I was pretty certain I had outgrown my asthma. I do not remember ever having medication for it and cannot remember having an asthma attack in years. But in recent years my breathing has been strange. When I found out about The 30 Second Asthma Test at AsthmaTest.ca I had to check it out!

Asthma is a fairly common health condition for many people. Not all of us fully understand the symptoms and what these symptoms mean in terms of level of asthma control. In fact, asthmatics tend to overestimate the level of asthma control that they experience and downplay the level of their symptoms. I believe this is something I have done for years. In a recent study, 92% of asthma sufferers believed their asthma was controlled, but in reality 46% did not meet experts’ standards for asthma control. They may hesitate to seek help from their healthcare professionals as they often tend to accept these bothersome symptoms as a part of aging or other conditions and may not be aware that poor asthma control can be modified. This test will help asthma sufferers like me evaluate how well they are controlling their asthma symptoms.  This is a great opportunity to kick-start a conversation with your doctor about asthma relief. I know I will be talking to mine. The Asthma test is geared towards adults (18+).

I found the test to be very helpful in allowing me to quickly evaluate my symptoms. What I had thought was me being ‘winded’ or my environment, may actually be my asthma lingering.

If you or someone you know has questions about asthma they should talk to their doctor. Take the test and encourage loved ones to do the same. Share the results of the test with your medical provider to see what methods are best for you to take control. I am going to get my family members to take the test as well. I am curious to see what it says.

What kind of questions does the 30 Second Asthma Test ask?

Do you cough, wheeze or have tight chest because of your asthma?  is one of the questions. There are five in total and it really is only 30 seconds as they are yes or no options. There is a summary at the end of the test with next steps for you to take depending on your results.

Take the test now and see for yourself!
Do you or someone you love suffer from asthma? Have you taken the 30 Second Asthma test yet?

My little miss has allergy induced asthma and it has taken about two years to get to where she is now, not needing her inhaler as much and being more in control. With her, I think we know what to look for and how to be pro-active if we see a flare up occuring
