RVing Across Canada

RVing across Canada can be a lot of fun, especially when it comes to choosing a great RV destination.  LaFontaine in Penetanguishene, Ontario is located within a stunning hardwood forest.  The entire family will love the wagon rides, treasure hunts, hiking trails, heated pool and many more planned activities.  The Park Sands Beach Resort is located in Parksville, BC right next to the Community Park.  The resort itself offers its guests a beautiful beach while the park has a large playground, water spray park, tennis courts and a skateboarding park.  The Dawson City RV Park in Yukon lets their guests pan for gold in the infamous Bonanza Creek.

Once you have decided on a destination for your RV vacation, you can then start to plan the rest of your trip.  Since you will be traveling in an RV, you can pack all of your belongings inside and know that everything is pretty much set up and ready once you reach your destination.  It’s a good thing if you can leave a lot of things in the RV, especially if you use it quite often.  Many people will leave bedding, dishes and other kitchen items in the RV for the entire season.  This can save a lot of time when it comes time to leave for vacation.

You will need to make sure that you have clothing that is appropriate for the weather and that you have enough for the time that you are away.  You also need to pack all of the food that you will be eating during your vacation.  The easiest way to pack all of these items is to make a list of what you need and then start taking the items to the RV.

You will need to realize that it may take you longer to reach your destination than it would if you were driving by car.  The RV is much larger and it will take some time to get used to driving it.  The children will also have to follow the safety laws while they are riding in the RV, just like they would if they were in a car.  This includes sitting in car seats and having seat belts on.  It would be a good idea to pack bags of activities for them to do for the duration of the drive.

At the RV campground, the first thing that you will want to do is hook your RV up to the water, electric and sewer.  This will make it easier as you continue on with your day and you won’t be in as much of a rush when you happen to need the water or a light.  Some RVs have sides that expand or awnings that go up, so if yours does, this is the time to take care of all of those things as well.  Next, set up your outdoor space, so you won’t have to be inside the RV all of the time.

After all of this work, your family can enjoy their time at the RV park.  Spend some time exploring and ask the staff if they know of any areas that are must see destinations in the area.  You will all be able to take off for the day and know that your RV will be there waiting for you when you return.

Have you been RVing? Where is your favourite place to visit with the family when in an RV?

I have never even stepped foot in an RV but it’s definitely something I’d like to do someday. And yes, definitely if travelling through Canada, you must take your wardrobe into consideration because of the colder weather.

  9. we go camping once a year and if you don’t have your bookings in by now, you’ll be in the over flow IF you can get in at all (WE go in Aug) Overflow usually means no power and no water hook-up.
