What to do when you only have a few days in Iceland

Many of us are working what seems like 24/7. The thought of getting away is always on our minds but the fact that we just do not have time sits with us. When we think about a vacation we think of going somewhere fabulous and spending weeks at a time. Reality is getting away for even a week is not easy. So what is a person to do? Have you ever considered a shorter vacation? Maybe a long weekend getaway? Consider going away during the next stat holiday or taking a Friday and Monday off and going somewhere fabulous for 4 days. When you add your vacation days onto the weekend or a holiday where your work is closed anyway, the idea of a trip is very doable. Iceland has so many great things for travelers to check out that those with only a few days will have an amazing time! No matter the time of year or whether you are traveling solo, as a couple or with the family, there is something for all in Iceland.

Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries that exist in the world.  That’s mainly because you can find a large number of natural wonders in there. On the other hand, people who visit Iceland will be able to take part in a variety of activities throughout the stay. Here is a list of things that you can do during your stay in Iceland in order to make the entire journey an unforgettable one.

Blue Lagoon

  1. Get wet in the Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland. The milky blue water in this lagoon delivers a stunning look to it. As a result, people prefer to soak themselves in this lagoon and swim. It is located in close proximity to natural hot springs as well. Planning a trip? Be sure to book some time with Blue Lagoon tours to experience this first hand.

  1. Explore the Golden Circle

Golden Circle, which is located about 150 miles away from Reykjavik, is one of the best natural attractions in the country. Thingvellir National Park is the first stop in your journey to the Golden Circle. This is where the North American and Eurasian plates meet with each other. The rift is clearly visible in here and people will even be able to take a walk or dive in between the gap. Geysir is the other most popular attraction in Golden Circle. These volcanoes are no longer functioning, but they shoot out hot water at regular intervals. This is a great place to take a picnic and go for a hike.

  1. Ride the cutest horse in the world

The world’s most beautiful horses can be found in Iceland. Even though these horses look like ponies, they are not. In fact, they have a squat, short and an adorable appearance. On the other hand, these horses are extremely smart and incredibly strong. During the cold winter seasons, these horses develop long shaggy fur. These cute horses are also known to be very docile and curious. Great for families and those with less experience with horses to check out.

  1. Experience the view from Hallgrímskirkja

The Hallgrímskirkja is a big white church, which was constructed back in 1938. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks that can be found in Iceland as well. A large number of tourists visit Hallgrímskirkja in order to experience the magnificent view from the top. You will be able to see a large number of brightly colored houses along with snow-capped Mount Esja and grey bay. The Hallgrímskirkja has a dedicated viewing platform for the convenience of tourists. You can access this via an elevator for a reasonable price tag. Even though this is a church , you do not need to be religous to appreciate all it has to offer.

  1. Go whale watching in Husavik

Husavik is one of the best destinations in the world for whale watching. As a result, thousands of people from every corner of the world come here during the summer season. It was once considered as the whale watching capital of the world. Thousands of whales come to Husavik as well and it delivers a fascinating sight to the visitors. This town can also be considered as an excellent base available for people who wants to explore the northern part of the country.
