Cocktail Recipes for the Holidays

POMEGRANATE MARTINIS

This pretty red-hued cocktail, fortified with Cointreau and sweetened with simple syrup, is perfect for the holidays.

Serves 4

Preparation 5 minutes

Cooking 25 minutes

Ingredients:

¼ cup sugar

¾ cup vodka

½ cup pomegranate juice

1/3 cup fresh lime juice

¼ cup Cointreau lime slices, for garnish

Directions:

Chill 4 martini glasses. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring the sugar and ¼ cup water to a simmer. Remove from heat and let cool.

In a large pitcher, combine the sugar syrup with the vodka, juices and Cointreau. Add 2 cups ice and stir until well chilled.

APPLE BRANDY CORDIALS

Garnish each glass with apple slices to add an extra hint of fruitiness.

¾ cup brandy

½ cup apple juice

1/3 cup Cointreau

¼ cup fresh lemon juice

In a large pitcher, combine the brandy, apple juice, Cointreau, lemon juice, and bitters. Serve over ice; garnish each glass with apple slices.

CHILI-SPICED BLOODY MARYS

Stir in habanero hot sauce and garnish with pickled jalapeños to give this classic drink an added dose of heat.

Ingredients:

3 cups tomato juice

¾ cup vodka

2/3 cup fresh lime juice

2 tsps Worcetershire sauce

1 tsp prepared horseradish

½ tsp celery salt

Kosher salt and black pepper

½ tsp habanero pepper hot sauce

Celery stalks and pickled jalapeños, for garnish.

Directions:

In a large pitcher, combine the tomato juice, vodka, lime juice, Worcetershire sauce, horseradish, salt, hot sauce, ½ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper.

Serve over ice; garnish each glass with a celery stalk and a jalapeño slice.

CHARTREUSE AND LIME COCKTAILS

Green chartreuse is a spicy-sweet herb-infused liqueur made by monks in the French Alps.

Because it has an assertive flavor, just a little goes a long way.

Serves 4

Cooking 10 minutes

Ingredients:

½ cup light rum

½ cup club soda

1/3 cup green Chartreuse liqueur

1/3 cup fresh lime juice maraschino cherries, for garnish.

Directions:

In a large pitcher, combine the rum, club soda, Chartreuse, and lime juice. Serve over crushed

ice; garnish each drink with a cherry.

EASY BLENDER EGGNOG

Use your blender to easily whip up this warm nutmeg-spiced drink.

Serves 4

Preparation 5 minutes

Cooking 20 minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy cream

½ cup sugar

½ tsp nutmeg

4 large eggs

¾ cup brandy

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, bring the heavy cream, sugar, and nutmeg just to a simmer. In a blender, blend the eggs on low speed for 1 minute. With the motor running, gradually add the hot cream mixture. Blend until frothy, about 30 seconds more. Add the brandy and blend to combine. Serve warm.
