New York City is known as the melting pot of the world. Every single culture in the world is represented throughout New York. Since it is such a diverse place, it only makes sense to really enjoy all the city has to offer. New York is much more than hopping on subways and riding in taxis. There’s a lot of history, art and sightseeing to really take in. On your next visit to New York, it’s a wise idea to try at least three things on this list.

1. Visit landmarks.
There are lots of landmarks in New York City. Take a trip over to see Lady Liberty and take lots of pictures. Learn more about the history behind this gift from the French and why it’s so important to American culture. Visit the solemn site of the former Twin Towers and pay respects to those who lost their lives on that fateful day. Times Square is the hub for all things involving entertainment. It’s the busiest and liveliest place to enjoy the New Year’s Eve celebration. It’s also a great place to see a lot of Broadway shows.

2. Bike ride in Central Park.
Central Park is definitely a place you must visit when you’re visiting New York. If you’re a movie fanatic, you’ll know that many movies and television shows have been shot on location in Central Park. This iconic park is a beautiful place to break a sweat and burn some of those extra calories off. Consider bike riding through Central Park. You can rent a bike and also get a guided tour at your own pace. Enjoying one of the Central park bike tours will allow you to get the benefits of learning fun facts about Central Park.

3. Try New York cuisine.
Between the classic street hot dogs and pretzels or the cheesecake, New York has a lot of delicious food to offer. If you’re into desserts, Junior’s Cheesecake is an iconic place to enjoy a slice. New York-style Italian Ice is another sweet treat to enjoy. One of the most delicious foods that this city offers is the New York-style pizza. There are very few people who can turn down a slice.

4. Catch a sporting event.
There are many different home teams in this city. The Giants, Yankees, Knicks and Jets all have strong support systems. If you decide to attend one of these home games, you’re bound to experience a lot of energy. You might also run into a few celebrities as these teams have a lot of celebrity support. Home games are normally held in arenas such as Yankee Stadium, Citi Field and Madison Square Gardens.

5. Go shopping.
A trip to New York City isn’t complete without a bit of shopping. There is literally something for everyone. It doesn’t matter what your budget is. For those who like to save a little money and still look amazing, Chinatown is known for its many pashminas, purses and other accessories. Upscale shopping is easily found in areas of Manhattan like Madison Avenue.

Clearly, this city has so much to offer and anyone can find at least one thing they’ll enjoy. Make sure to soak in the sights by taking lots of pictures. It’s also important to wear comfortable shoes for the days when you’re doing a lot of walking. Just remember to have lots of fun enjoying the city that never sleeps.

    I love visiting NYC. It is one of my favourite cities. I have never tried a bike ride through Central Park. That sounds like an amazing thing to do.
