Things Everyone Loves about Christmas

For some it all begins after Halloween, for others it’s when they hear that first Christmas hit, for many it’s the night before and for a fair few, Christmas is always bubbling away from the moment we take the decorations down!

The buzz and excitement of Christmas is felt throughout every home, every background and whether you’re young, old, male or female – everyone loves Christmas really! Here we’ve gathered a few things that everyone loves about Christmas.

The lights and decorations

When I was little, there was nothing more exciting then the Christmas tree being brought down from the loft and boxes upon boxes of tangled up lights, chintzy ornaments, sparkly baubles and a battered old angel that sits on the top, making their appearance. But the beauty and sparkle of Christmas doesn’t end there – gorgeous Christmas wreaths on everyone’s door, false snow sprayed in windows that flashed, glowed and shined with plastic lights.

Now things are not as tacky, and many people have colour coordinated decorations and stylish door signs from SmartSign that welcome in the festive spirit. But one thing is for sure, when the decorations are up – that buzz of excitement seems to get a little bit louder!

The food

There’s no denying it. For a lot of people, Christmas is a time for indulgence, treating yourself (and others) and probably gaining a few pounds in the process! A golden turkey roasting in the oven, with heaps and heaps of vegetables, roast potatoes, sprouts (if you’re into that kind of thing) and of course, the fight over the last pig-in-blanket! We give food as gifts, receive treats as presents and it’s a time for generosity!

Whether it’s large sharing tins of sweets or deluxe packs of chocolate biscuits, sweets and candies seem to be everywhere and a feast over the Christmas period has become as big a part of the tradition as Father Christmas himself!

Being with family

On a sentimental note, Christmas is a time when family comes together. Relatives who live miles and miles away, always make the effort to be there on the big day. And those who are no longer with us are remembered and celebrated. There’s nothing better than sitting around the table on emergency chairs and the garden patio set, celebrating the best day of the year with those you love.

Gifts

Everyone loves receiving gifts. Whether its something you’ve hinted at for months, or something you never thought you’d ever get. It’s great to open a gift from someone you love. But Christmas is also a time for giving, and many take great pleasure in the planning, the shopping, the wrapping and the giving to someone they love.

The Happiness

If you’re lucky, Christmas is a time where happiness is abundant. Whether it’s the family singing along to Christmas songs, the kids arguing which film to watch on Christmas Eve, the magic of leaving Father Christmas some milk and a mince pie (and a carrot for Rudolph) or seeing that person you haven’t seen in so long. Christmas is a time, for love, joy and coming together.

Comments

  1. I love Christmas… and as much as I love matchy matchy holiday decor, deep inside I love tacky Christmas best 🙂 Have a wonderful Christmas this year.

  2. I love all of these things about Christmas too, but having family together for some fun times, great food and reminiscing are my favourite thing of all!
