3 Ebay Myths Debunked

If you’re yet to make a sale on eBay, you don’t need to be afraid! There are lots of reasons why people may not have got on the ebay selling wagon, and a few reasons are myths that need debunking. Hopefully this post can cast away your aversion to ebay selling and get you making some money for your items so you can make up for lost time.

eBay is perfect for selling items you no longer need or want, and could make you a nice bit of extra money for your summer vacation.

Large items have to be sold as ‘collection only’

FALSE – it’s easy to send large items using a courier. You don’t need to list items as ‘local collection only’ and have to take a day off work to wait at home for the buyer to turn up at your home. There are other options!

Shiply is a great website for finding a courier for whatever your item may be, whether it’s a car, piece of furniture, or just too big to fit in someone’s letterbox. On Shiply are thousands of registered couriers ready to send you a quote. It’s also an ebay-compatible application which makes it super quick and easy to list your item on the site.

I have to have a paypal account

FALSE – if you don’t have a PayPal account you can still use eBay. When listing your item, just make sure you specify in the payment settings how you’d like to receive your money, which could also be in cash or by credit card.

If you wanted to try out PayPal, it’s easy to set up an account and is a very secure way to send and receive money.

It’s really time consuming

FALSE – items can be listed quickly on eBay.

Selling on eBay is straightforward, with eBay guiding you through the selling process from start to finish. If you’ve found an item on ebay that’s similar or the same as what you’re hoping to sell, you can just duplicate their listing and change details how you see fit, like price and (obviously) location. Listing items as ‘Buy It Now’ means you can list an item at a fixed price (if it sells, it sells. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t), or you can list the item as an auction that runs for a certain number of days if you are unsure of your item’s worth or want to have the auction finish on a particular day when you’ve got more free time to sort out postage.

Of course the more items you’re selling, the longer it’ll take to list them all, but it’ll be worth it!
