How to Stay Cool as a Cucumber when the Hot Summer Nights Come Around

Nobody likes to be super warm at night. The whole thing can feel very uncomfortable and you may even feel as though there is nothing that you can do to cool down either. At times you may even not be able to sleep and this can cause you to feel very over-tired the next day. Take a look below to put an end to those hot, uncomfortable summer nights.

Always Choose to Have Good Sheets

Cotton sheets are great. Avoid polyester. Satin and silk because they will only add to the heat of the bed. You’ll also want to go for light colours as well as this can make you feel much cooler on a psychological basis as well. Making sure that your room has a lot of ventilation will really help you out here and you’ll also benefit from having a lot of airflow as well. For this reason, you’ll want to open up all your blinds and your windows. You may also want to consider sheets for hot sleepers as well, as these can make all the difference to your night-time routine.

Freeze those Sheets!

This may sound silly, but it really does work. If you are finding the summer heat unbearable then rip your sheets off the bed and put them in a plastic bag. It helps to get one that you can zip up so you don’t end up getting freezer stains all over your bedding. Freezing your sheets can work wonders and it can really help you to stay cool as well. You’d be surprised at how much this works and you can do it with every sheet in your house if you’d like, so the whole family can stay cool.

Get a Hot Water Bottle

This may sound strange, but it really does help to get a hot water bottle. When you have one, fill it up with cold water and use it to try and cool down when you are in bed. You can even put this in the freezer as well if you want, and this is great because most hot water bottles are made out of rubber. This means that they can withstand expanding water temperatures and it also means that you can keep it in bed with you all throughout the night.

Be Creative

If you are one of those people who think that fans just blow hot air around then think again. You need to point any box fans that you have out of the window. When you do this, you’ll see what a huge difference it can make. If you have a ceiling fan then try and make it so the blades go around in a counter-clockwise position. You’ll want it so they pull the hot air up to the top of the room, rather than just spinning it around.

Egyptians Know What They Are Doing

In Ancient Egypt, people used to dampen a sheet in cold water and then use it as a blanket. You may want to lay these sheets on top of a towel so that you can stop the mattress from getting soaked through. That being said, this is a great way for you to really cool down and it doesn’t take long either.

Loose is the Way to Go

Less is certainly more when it comes to pajamas. Try and pick clothing that is loose such as cotton and then sleep in your shirt or underwear. When you sleep in the nude, this will cause you to be even warmer. You’ll have the sweat staying on your body and this won’t be taken away by any fabric. Of course, you may have to do whatever works for you but at the end of the day, it is almost guaranteed that sleeping nude will make you feel warmer and when choosing your pajamas you need to make sure that you choose ones that are loose.

Fans, Fans Fans!

If you have some fans around the room then don’t direct them all at the bed. The main thing that you need to try and do here is create a room that is well circulated. To do this, you need to have one fan facing one way and then another facing the other way. This will help you to stay way cooler and it is the best way for you to drastically make a difference to the temperature of the room as well.

So there are plenty of ways that you can stay cool in summer, and by following the above tips, you’ll never have to worry about overheating ever again!
