5 Fun Things to do for Families in Kamloops this Fall #ExploreKamloops

Fall is my favourite time of year! The weather is almost always perfect and the smells of pumpkin an dapples makes me think of my fave childhood memories. Yes the days are shorter and winter is not far off, but Autumn temperatures and back drop make the next few months amazing! With back to school, Thanksgiving, Halloween and fall harvest I enjoy every minute of the season. Spending time with the family while venturing off to a local orchard is my idea of a great day.

My family has always loved Halloween and could not wait to explore Kamloops last year for some spooky fun! After the record breaking fire season the province experienced it was great being able to be outdoors and worry-free! We stayed at Ramada and had a fun filled three days jam packed with yummy restaurants, cool attractions and amazing scenery. Below is my list of 5 fun things to do in Kamloops for families in the Fall.

Kamloops Heritage Railway – Ghost Train

This family friendly Ghost Train ride has non-stop action throughout the train. With everyone in costume and Halloween decor this ride is fun for all ages. Nights are a bit coolers so make sure to dress warm. You can expect all kinds of creepy imagery peppered throughout the ride, like the sinister Headless Horseman, riding alongside the train. The audience can sit back and take in some good old-fashioned Halloween horrors.

Be sure to arrive early so you can see the entertainment before the train boards. There is lots of parking near by and plenty of opportunities for great pictures.

Sunset Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch

Every Fall we head out to a corn maze and apple orchard then finish off with some apple picking. Our family always has a friendly pumpkin carving competition for bragging rights as well.

Bundle up in your favorite fall clothes, throw on some boots and head out to Kamloops’ local pumpkin patch!
Sunset Valley Farm offers a perfect fall landscape for you to create memories with family and friends. Embark on an adventurous scavenger hunt to find the right jack-o-lantern and enjoy tractor-trailer rides, bouncy castles, and our zip-line on the weekends!!!
Challenge yourself to be the few to be able to make it out of our huge corn maze!

Located past Kamloops Regional Airport; take the first left after the Kamloops Golf and Country Club.

Boo at the Zoo at the BC Wildlife Park

One of our favourite things to do all year long is visit the Wildlife park. The Fall is the best time to do so as the animals are a bit more active with it being cooler and the leaves changing colours is so pretty to see. This is a fantastic Halloween themed light show showcased in the evening at the BC Wildlife Park.  Definitely fun for the whole family featuring exciting animal encounters, the haunted maze, the spider scavenger hunt, and story time at the witches’ corner.

Your child can dress in costume and trick-or-treat throughout the park as there are stations handing out candy. If it gets too cool just grab a snack and hot chocolate at concession or take in some of the indoor activities in the park.  Boo at the Zoo runs October 26th, 27th & 28th from
5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Kamloops Downtown Farmer’s Market

The fall bounty is of abundance at the last few Farmer’s Markets of the season. Over 30 vendors including fresh garden produce, wine tasting, specialty cheeses & meats, local artisans all ensure a market experience that offers something for everyone.

When I think fall there is certain things I must have I can only get straight from the farmers, cider, pies and produce makes the market a must stop spot when visiting.

Jump360 | Indoor Trampoline Park

Since it is Fall, weather can change quickly and you may need to look for something to do indoors. One of the newest attractions for Kamloops families is this great indoor trampoline park. This vast indoor trampoline mecca challenges you to leap into fun at Jump 360°! Bounce around on trampolines with your friends, experience the thrill of flying off a rope swing into 80 feet of air bags, spar on a battle beam or enjoy a safe, low impact workout.

Bring your own grippy socks or buy some at the door when you arrive. You can save time signing the waiver online as well. My daughter loves jumping around with her friends and I love to hang out on the comfy couches throughout the place.

Kamloops has a lot of things to do that will surely give you a spooky good time. My older kids took in some attractions that my younger daughter would feel were too scary. You can check out Tourism Kamloops for current events and attractions.

The above mentioned experiences were provided free of charge as a guest of Tourism Kamloops. As always, all opinions are my own.
