So You’re Engaged: Next Up the Wedding

It’s an exciting time in your life. You found the love of your life, your soul-mate and it’s official, you’re engaged. After having a few weeks to express your joy and get the word out, it’s time to start planning for the big day, your wedding.

Getting Started

It’s your big day and one that you and your soul-mate want to share with family and friends. Planning for the event can become stressful. However, if you start the process early and draft a comprehensive list of the necessary items, from the reception venue to the small finishes like hangover recovery kits, you’ll remain on track.

The Wedding Budget

Before you compile a guest list you’ll need to identify the Wedding Budget. Are you and your partner paying for it alone, or are there other contributors to the funds such as your parents? Once you have an accurate accounting of the available funds for your wedding, then you can set your plans in motion.

Guest List

Guest lists can become stressful unveilings. You don’t want to offend someone by eliminating them, however, if you have limited money, as most couples do, you will need to trim the initial list.

Wedding Party

Selecting the wedding party is important. The sooner you let your family and friends know who’s in the ceremony the better. Again, you may end up with hurt feelings, but when it comes down to it, it’s your wedding and you make the final decision.

Reception Hall/Venue

Reception halls, especially ones very desirable, fill up quickly. Sometimes the most popular wedding venues can receive bookings as early as a year in advance. Put this near the top of your priorities to ensure that you get the venue you want. It’s also a good idea to have a second location selected, just in case.

Wedding Attire

The wedding dress will appear in all the photos to follow from your special day. Take your time and don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone when it comes to trying on dresses. A type that you may not think will look good may turn out to be the best fit for you. Additionally, your groom will also be in the photos and as such should have wedding attire that shines too, just not as bright as the bride.

A Wedding Planner

There’s no doubt about it, planning every aspect of a wedding and pulling it all together without a hitch can overwhelm you and your partner. Here’s where a wedding planner can play a huge role in the success of your special day. A wedding planner does just what the title suggests: plan your wedding. Based on information obtained from you, they go to work to find a photographer, a videographer, a caterer, a florist, a limousine service, and a musician or DJ. You will ultimately make the choices. However, it’s nice to have someone with experience able to do the leg work.

Honeymoon Destination

With all the preparations ongoing for the big day, you may lose sight of planning your honeymoon. This is the first time you and your partner will become a union. Converse back and forth as to where you would like to spend your honeymoon and make sure to book the airline and hotel in advance.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

The morning prior to the church service is exciting and terrifying at the same time. It’s finally here and now you want to look your best. Take a few deep breaths and let the hairdresser perform their magic and put on your beautiful wedding dress and accessories.

You found that special someone that makes your heart beat a bit faster. Your wedding day is here and it’s time to meet the groom.
