One of our family faves is Hamburger Stew. Another recipe I usually just do up on the fly depending on what I have in stock. Great for cold winter days and those days you are in a rush. Serve over mashed potatoes, on rice or with bread. Very tasty! I grew up with my mom making this and have tweaked it a bit to fit my picky family.
Prep time is short and cooking time is quick. Feeds a large family with lots of leftovers
Ingredients
- 2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cups Green Beans frozen or canned
- 1 can Whole Kernel Corn 1 can condensed tomato soup
- 1 can ready-to-serve beef broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup of water
- potatoes (MASHED)
Step by Step instructions
- In large saucepan, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat until beef is cooked, stirring frequently. Drain once cooked.
- Add all remaining ingredients; mix well. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer 10 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring occasionally.
- Cook and mash potatoes (or rice)
- Serve over mashed potatoes
Corn and beans can be replaced with carrots or other vegetables or omitted completely. I like mine a bit thicker so I use gravy thickener (corn starch) But my kids prefer more gravy lol The last time I made this I only added the corn (No beans or carrots)
Have you tried this with the golden mushroom soup? Amazing
I will have to give that a try, thanks
My recent post Easy Hamburger Stew Recipe
I think this would be a family favourite here too! I love carrots so I think I would add those. I love the idea of using mushroom soup too! Thank you for the recipe and taking the time to post it!!
I also make this, it's something everyone likes and you can change it up, sometimes I call it cleaning out the fridge stew lol
I have an abundance of ground hamburger ! This looks good .. I need a change .. sometimes you just get sick of the same stuff ! Going to try this one.
Now that's a great comfort food for these cold winters
This looks easy and delicious! Thanks for sharing!
This sounds like an economical and delicious 'stick-to-your-ribs'. This is another one I will be making. Thank you.
